Cards that are particularly pretty, festive, or meaningful can be turned into framed art. Use frame ornaments for Christmas cards.Shape punches can be used to take certain shapes out of cards and create something unique and meaningful. 4. Scrapbook Embellishments
If you’re into scrapbooking, then you already know you can use old cards for all sorts of things! Borders, picture frames, backgrounds, etc. The world’s your oyster!
According to the Post Office, postcards need to be at least 3.5 inches high and 5 inches wide, but no more that 4.25 inches wide and 6 inches long. That means that with the majority of cards you receive, you could probably easily turn then into postcards. Just cut off the part with the picture (provided no one wrote on the card), leave the right side for the address and stamp, and write your greeting on the left side. Et voila!
6. Make New Cards
If you’re really in a crafty mood, take those cards, cut out sections you like, and make brand new cards! Use really good card stock as your backing. Punches that create images, like butterflies or Christmas trees, can take some of the guesswork out of trying to cut out shapes by freehand.

Turns out you can donate your old greeting cards. I was completely surprised to learn that St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital will be happy to take them off your hands! I didn’t know they had a program that recycles them, makes new cards, and sells them back to earn money. If you have an old stack laying around, and you want them to to a good cause, check them out. They only take the part of the card with the image, but you could then easily recycle the rest.
10. Memory Book
You can cut out the parts that people have written and create a memory book with just the writings. Check out this image to see what I mean. Or, even better, you could turn them into a fantastically bound memory book. Check out this tutorial to learn how to create your own beautiful keepsake!
